I am a parent of a DC Public School student and I'm sending this email to voice my concern over the threat that was made about five DC public schools.

First off, I would like to know why there was NO public announcement made via media this morning before the students were due to arrive at school. The alert said that an anonymous email was received at 6am this morning. Given the current circumstances that have taken place over the last couple of years and weeks with the WTC disaster, the war in Iraq and the Madrid explosion, I think that you all have a civil duty and responsibility to effectively and immediately communicate with parents/guardians of kids who attend these school. You are the keeper of the gates and we entrust that you make the best judgment when it comes to our kids; however I am really reconsidering that thought. It appalls me that every time there is an alert of high importance, DC Public Schools is the last on the list to take action of any kind. I am not one to complain vocally about things, but this time I had to make some noise. If you continue to drop the ball on these types of incidences, I fear that you may have huge repercussions to contend with because of your late action.

I don't know if the DC Police Department dropped the ball by not communicating this information to you or what the situation is, but Y'ALL NEED TO GET IT TOGETHER! I pride myself on making my son go to school each and everyday if possible, now I would like some reassurance from your department that you will pride yourself on setting aside your frivolous policies and procedures and do the right thing by our kids!!!

Signed,
