Charter Schools Development Corporation: This nonprofit promotes “excellence, innovation and parental choice in public education by assisting public charter schools with the acquisition and financing of educational facilities and related capital improvements.”
DC Education Blog: “A weblog dedicated to covering the Washington DC education scene.”
DC Education Compact: Self-described as: “a community partnership committed to ensuring that our District schools educate our District children — all our children. We are volunteers — parents, teachers, principals, school administrators, business leaders, community activists, foundation staff, elected officials, and concerned citizens. DC Voice: DC Voice describes itself as “a collaborative of education activists committed to ensuring every child in Washington, DC a high quality public education.” The web site contains most of their publications as well as information about the organization.
Education, Board of: The Board of Education runs the DC Public School System web site
FixOurSchools.net: Begun in September 2004, this web site, an individual project of former DCPS teacher Marc Borbely, focuses on the physical deterioration of DC schools, and lists all repair work orders at all schools
Friends of Choice in Urban Schools: FOCUS promotes charter schools, and their web site provides a good deal of information about charter schools in DC.
Parents United for the DC Public Schools: The advocacy group for parents of students in DC’s public school system.
Public Charter School Board: This is the web site of one of the two bodies that charter schools in DC (the other is the Board of Education)
Public Charter Schools Center for Student Support Services: This nonprofit “assists District of Columbia public charter schools with a range of services to meet the needs of low-income urban children and youth. The Center facilitates collaboration between public charter schools, city government agencies, and local area social service providers to ensure more effective and integrated services to schools and communities.”

State Education Office: The DC State Education Office is an administrative agency that oversees state government educational functions
21st Century School Fund: The Fund describes its mission as, “To build the public will and capacity to improve urban public school facilities,” and its vision as, “Good public schools are both a reasonable expectation and a reality in urban school districts throughout the nation”
Washington Scholarship Fund: The privately funded Washington Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for low-income children to attend private elementary and high schools
Washington Teachers Union: Has a comprehensive staff and school representative directory and a calendar of union events
